2 Days of Chaos later..

I do indeed have some time since I'm going to be a square and skip the apparently mandatory going out on the first night of getting to Tokyo. I am officially in Tokyo. I'm staying at the Keio plaza hotel. Here's their website. It's incredibly nice and a bit of a shock to a cheapskate like me. So far being on JET has had a lot of perks, hopefully that won't come back and get me later on...

Anyway, yesterday's orientation in Chicago was decent. I had an awkward roommate at the hotel they put us up in. Mainly because I never met him and he was sleeping when I came in. In the morning he was getting ready to leave and woke me up and very smoothly I said, "by the way...my name's Scott". The actual orientation thing was really more of a pep talk with some information about visas. Thrilling.

This morning we loaded 4 buses in total to take 2 different flights from Chicago to Narita. It was as chaotic as it sounds. Traveling with 200 people usually is. The flight was quite decent. There weren't many clouds far north so you could see all over Canada, Alaska and Siberia. I thought it was pretty neat. Considering I doubt I'll ever be heading to the arctic on foot.

I'll post some pictures of the room and such later. This is mainly just a "I'm here and safe" post. (albeit a longer one than I thought)

Some side notes:

Just now there was a little girl in the elevator going up that was saying "Can I go out now?" over and over again. Her mom and grandma looked over to the foreigner in the elevator (me) as to say "good, eh?"

There's like 2000 JETs all in this hotel. Every elevator in the hotel has a sign by it apologizing for the long wait for the elevator.
