Gomen (Sorry)

I just realized that I haven't been writing lately. I need to fix that. I actually have a few entries that I wrote while at school that I need to type up and put up here. But here is a quick entry for you.

Two weekends ago I went to Kanazawa in Ishikawa prefecture. I had some good sushi and saw a house plated with gold just because. They have one of Japan's three famous gardens, Kenroku-en, which I visited as well. The garden is beautiful and worth a visit. Maybe not in the stifling nastiness that is Japanese summer...

Last week I went to the Tajima Ultimate Frisbee tournament. For those of you who know me well, you know that I hate three things above all else: team sports, competitiveness, and the dutch. Frisbee comes in for a close fourth, making this a perfect activity for me. One of my friends ending up convincing me to go, and it was somewhat fun. By somewhat I mean I abhorred the sport, but the socializing was fun. On Saturday night, they held a BBQ party at the foot of a ski run. I took some great picture in a ski lift, which I have yet to get back. The aftermath of the weekend was a very sore body and lots of disgusting bug bites. There was one specific bite that everyone got that looked like chiggers on crack. Japanese bugs tend to be more dramatic than their North American cousins.

This is the last week of classes before the summer vacation begins (tomorrow). Today was "housecleaning", so I got to weed the garden for an hour in the muggy muggy weather. I was also put in charge of a group of students, which usually never happens. The students never hear me speaking Japanese, so they were surprised when I was telling them what to do and such. Which makes it really hard to get anything done when they just keep saying, "huuuuhhhhhHHhhhhh? you speak Japanese? No way!". Mind you, all I am saying is "do this" or "good job".
