The rape blossom wasn’t so bad, except it was really bitter. And they added fish flakes so it tasted like it had been smoked in a trash pile. So never mind, it wasn’t good.
The fried shrimp was really good though. I wasn’t expecting much. They had been fried and sat in a container for a couple hours. But they were still crunchy. Who knew. The lunch ladies also gave us tartar sauce, a huge plus. I’ve never seen tartar sauce in Japan that wasn’t from a foreign food store, so this is a new thing.
The miso soup was good, nothing strange there.
Sudachi is this Japanese lime thing. It’s very sour and goes well in foods if you want something even more tart than a lime.
Unfortunately that salad left a terrible bitter smoky trash taste in my mouth.
