Kyuushoku for 17 May

Bean Menu


White rice(ごはん)
Milk(牛乳)
Grilled squid(焼きイカ)
A mixture of beans stew(ごもく豆煮)
Egg drop soup(かきたま汁)
Cherry tomatoes(ミニトマト)

So according to the “lunch time” menu, the mixture of bean stew is actually called “5 thing bean stew”. The incredibly original name came about because of the five things included in the stew. The stew today consists of “soybeans, carrots, gobo (burdock root), konjak (devil’s tongue) and konbu (a kind of seaweed).

I’m usually not a squid fan, but for some reason it always tastes pretty ok in kyuushoku. Usually squid either tastes like a tire or a mushy tire to me.

The egg drop soup was ok. There wasn’t anything strange in it.

Then came the traditional Japanese dessert, cherry tomatoes.
