The ginger grilled pork was pretty good. Well, the ginger grill part of the pork. The pork itself was really fatty and dripping with grease. MMMMMMM greasy fatty meat.
I thought I was going to enjoy the cabbage salad looking thing, but I didn’t. The “spice” they were talking about was shiso. Shiso is this plant that sort of tastes like medicine gone rancid. More like medicine gone rancid and cleaned up with Pine-sol. Shiso tastes fine in very limited quantities with very traditional Japanese food, but that’s it. I have a friend who thinks that you can substitute cilantro with shiso. I also suspect he was poisoned as a child through the chemicals in his city’s sewers.
The miso soup with pumpkin was good. I don’t think they’ve ever put pumpkin in miso soup before. It was a nice touch.
