The powers to be made the executive decision to have lunch in the “lunch room” again today. Only, unlike Wednesday, it was a much sunnier day. The tea man also decided to drag one of hell’s heaters into the lunchroom in between the tables. This made the lunchroom bearable for the ten minutes I shoveled food in as fast I could without choking. I didn’t want to test how cold the lunchroom could get. Also, I think the kids not opening up every door in the school prevented the hurricane gale that was present on Wednesday.
The fish marinade thing was pretty good. Yuzu tastes like a lemony lime; probably Japanese scientists spliced the genes of the two fruits years ago. It went well on the fish, but I wish the lunch ladies had skinned the fish before sautéing it. I don’t think fish skin has a lot of nutrition in it that we’re losing, just throw it away.
The seaweed was a nice little touch to the meal. I’m not sure the reasoning behind it, but it’s always nice to have something to make the rice have flavour.
The oden was ok. It tasted like any other oden that they serve in kyuushoku. I don’t know why they called it “miso”. A quail egg semi-exploded in the container and ended up in my bowl. So I had to endure chalky quail resin throughout my meal, you just can’t pick it out. Fail.
3 shishamo (1 lost for exploded quail egg)
