Where to start...

Let’s start with what wasn’t incredibly offensive to the taste buds. The rice was good. I wasn’t sure what “affinity rice” would be, but it turned out to be good. The fish was really good. This fish is supposed to be a spring fish, so it’s quite abundant now. You can see it in the supermarkets and such. The soup was another bland adventure into soups that aren’t miso. It wasn’t bad, just nothing amazing.

The squid/scallion mixture was in lack of a more accurate word disgusting. “Vomit-inducing” and “repulsive” come to mind as well. I have no idea what that dressing was, but it tasted like (what I imagine) horse sweat and corn starch. I’ve had this disaster a few times at staff parties, but I can usually just eat a few bites and hide the rest. I couldn’t today. I tried to eat this as fast as possible.

To make the meal the worst kyuushoku possible, the lunch ladies added this orange looking thing. I thought I was done with the vileness of the earlier dish, but that the acid in the orange or something just added enough to make my mouth taste like I had just vomited. It was perhaps the worst taste I’ve ever felt. And of course, this orange is impossible to eat anyway because they cut it into a quarter that is just too big to do anything with.

I think I brushed my teeth for a good five minutes after this meal, but the taste lingered until I burnt it out with some scalding tea.
